More greetings fam…
We bring you our 20th DSU Chapter, in the hopes to make up for the last releases since we couldn’t provide one.
Now, we’ve featured a female guest mix before and now we are also excited to present another lady spinner.
Lady S-Girl is not stranger to the DSU movement and people, in fact she has graced our shores about 3 times already and is quiet well known in our circles and thus a guest mix has been in demand from her by our family members who have had the opportunity to hear her preach.
We had a bit of a chat with lady to suss out her spinning history.
S-Girl – DJ Biography:
Her name is Sphiwe Shoba aka S-Girl and hails from Mamelodi, PTA. Sphiwe began spinning at a tender age of 16 years and has always had a passion for music prior to that. Her dad is a trumpeter and was the main source of musical inspiration. I was always wonderful to see my him perform live, music was always the order of the day at home and we always used to chill and listen to his music. As a young girl, I used to sneak around the house and play his music collection whenever he was not around. Overall, my whole family is musically orientated since we were always exposed to it through my dad.
Furthermore, I was fortunate and blessed enough to have a brother who inspired me and pushed me to get to where I currently am musically as he is also a Dj. To be honest, if it weren’t for him i wouldn’t be a deejay.
As the Dj that I am, I personally believe in being unique musically. That alone makes it all interesting and exciting as I always try not to imitate anyone but follow my own path.
Initially I started playing mainstream “otherwise known as commercial house music” but I didn’t last long on it as I developed the love for Soulful House. It kind of gave me a challenge at the same time touching my soul. As time went by, I developed a deep passion for Deep,Tech House.
Music linked me with DeepSoul Unlimited. In this world of underground djs, we speak a similar language through music. The relationship with Nhlex & Ntshebe is more of a family than anything. They are my brothers, I love and admire how they command the decks and please the crowd. They inspire me in many ways and have been so patient with me. This guest Chapter was meant to be done last year already however I couldn’t manage to cook it due to my work schedule.
My love for DeepHouse is extremely immense and through the DSU events I’ve always been welcomed with open arms. I love how their followers respond to my music, it is such an amazing feeling that connects us emotionally.
Music is very powerful, i was very much under pressure when creating this mix, as a dj, one always wants to make sure a mix is perfect. As I continued mixing, it took me to some other world where I honestly didn’t care whether it’s up to standard or not but to appreciate the selection I went with.
Thank you to DSU for the opportunity…
